Now by popular demand, we’re growing to accommodate your whole family from Pre-K (ages 3 & 4) through Ninth grade this fall followed by grades 10-12 each added over the next four years to form the Banner Collegiate School.  Finally after a decade of planning, Frederick County has a quality college preparatory day school for gifted and talented students.  Applications are being accepted now, so call 301-695-9320 and schedule a private tour or join us at our next open house. Every child deserves the chance, the challenge, the support, the success…The Banner School.

Since 1982, The Banner School has offered a strong liberal arts education for students in kindergarten through grade eight. We are pleased to announce we are growing to meet the needs of the community. The Banner Pre-K for children ages 3 and 4 (potty trained) and Ninth grade of The Banner Collegiate School - a college preparatory day school for gifted and talented students will begin fall 2008. Grades 10 through 12 will each be added over the next four years.  Our student body includes children and families from throughout the region, and reflects diversity both culturally and socioeconomically. The Banner School gives children the tools to reach their goals and make their dreams a reality. A Banner education is priceless but affordable.  Tomorrow's doctors, scientists, writers, artists, and polictical leaders depend on a great education and at The Banner School, we lay that foundation for a lifetime of achievement.  It's not too early to start higher learning.

philosophy
Personal academic discovery and achievement abound at The Banner School, where our approach to education emphasizes the student as an individual. As has been true since our founding, we believe it is only through a close relationship with a teacher that a student's true potential can be realized. Our small class sizes allow faculty members to really know their students. Here, in an environment which promotes high standards, self-esteem, and respect for others, your child will discover an enthusiasm for learning that will last a lifetime.

curriculum
The Banner School offers students a rigorous and challenging liberal arts curriculum designed to acquire basic skills while encouraging higher level critical and analytical thinking skills. Our faculty expands the boundaries of traditional studies with interdisciplinary subject matter that is explored beyond the classroom - through published works, at school assemblies, and in the community. Responding to the increasing need for international awareness and understanding, The Banner School offers both Spanish and French foreign language instruction to students at all grade levels. Art, music and drama, which stimulate creative expression and enhance academic performance, also have an important role in our curriculum. Computer use is integrated into our curriculum to help students excel in an increasingly technological world.

accreditation
The Banner School is approved by the Maryland State Department of Education and accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools (AIMS), a statewide association consisting of over 100 private, independent elementary and college preparatory schools.

diversity
Our student body reflects the ethnic and religious diversity of today's world. At The Banner School, diversity is fully embraced. Students are taught to see themselves as part of a whole community, not segmented by ethnicity or economics. We integrate the cultural diversity found at Banner into our programs, helping to give students a broader understanding of the world.

extended care
Extended Care provides a convenient option for parents whose schedules don't permit early morning or after school supervision. Our Extended Care program is made available to all students.

financial aid
Financial aid is available to all qualified applicants. To apply, obtain an application form from our Business Office, and return it to the FACTS Tuition Management Program by April 1, for consideration for the following school year.
