10 Tips To Make Your Child's Birthday Party Fun, Memorable, and Stress-Free

Everyone should have fun at a party, here are 10 tips for a Happy Birthday Party

1. Tie a bouquet of balloons on your mailbox, front porch or apartment door so it’s easy for your guests and hired help to find the party. Have the birthday child select the balloon colors.
2. Involve the entire family in your child’s party. Assign duties for each member: decorations, taking pictures or videotaping, answering the door, hanging up coats…etc.
3. Prepare your child for the party. Discuss good manners, acceptable behavior for the party and what areas are off limits.
4. Siblings can become jealous so it’s important to give your other children extra love.
5. Protect you pets. Place them in a safe area away from children. A birthday party can be stressful for pets, some children like to play rough and animals may bite if they feel threatened.
6. On the day of the party, you may want to have children take off their shoes and leave them at the front door. Kids love to take off their shoes and play in their socks (it will save your carpets too!)
7. Flavored waters, juices, herbal iced teas, and lemonades are a great alternative to caffeine and sugar loaded sodas. Kids have enough energy without chemicals! Try pretzels and carrots instead of candy and sweets.
8. Use nametags to help adults and children remember each other’s names.
9. Have a large cardboard box handy to put presents in. Have the birthday child decorate it with wrapping paper or by coloring it. Whether you open gifts during or after the party, it is a good idea to record the gifts received and who gave them. Children should be encouraged to appreciate and savor every gift, it’s good manners!
10. Plan lots of activities for the children. And don’t make the party too long. About two hours is usually the perfect amount of time.

Have Fun!
