Transition to Motherhood
For all new moms-
Have you experienced some surprises as a new mom? Have other moms you know voiced the same surprise? Welcome to the club!!
There are no classes to prepare us to be moms. We can learn about feeding, diapering and sleep patterns, but these focus on infant care. Who will help us to care for ourselves as we negotiate the next 21 years?
Becoming a parent changes your life forever. The media would have us believe that motherhood comes naturally, that moms will instinctively handle any situation. Few moms I've worked with have felt this way. New parents need support, encouragement, and the freedom to discuss the reality of parenthood.
If you would like to meet other new moms, share experiences, encourage each other, and discuss what adjusting to an infant is truly like, you may enjoy our Mom's Group-Transition to Motherhood. We are an informal , relaxed group whose goal is to discuss concerns and topics of importance to moms during the first year after baby is born.
